I just finished watching the movie Hotel Rwanda. (Sorry... I'm a little behind the times...) It was truly a moving story. Men Like Paul Rusesabagina are the most inspiring, humanity at its best. I'm awed. Still almost without words.
Stories of people like Paul Rusesabagina must insire others to rise above themselves. To reach out to those around them. To do what's right in a difficult place. To stand up for others.
It made me remember why I wanted to be a journalist at one time-- to tell the story that most needed telling. To shine light in the dark places so all the world can see. A lofty goal, right? :)
That dream still lives on in my heart. It is a part of what drives me to write. It is why any story should be told. Why any writer must write.
Good writing should always change the world.
