November is National Novel Writing Month. What better time to sit down and tap out that story that's been haunting you at night? :D
No seriously... in celebration of National Novel Writing Month, you can sign up via www.nanowrimo.org and take the challenge to write an entire manuscript or 50K words in thirty days.
I suggest taking at least a little time to brainstorm your story idea, even if you're a seat-of-the-pants type of writer. At least map out your story direction and major conflicts. In order to meet the challenge, you'll be churning out almost 2K words per day. That's about 4 pages single-spaced. Sound like a lot? On a good day, I can do about 1K in 30-45 minutes.
The key to the challenge is to keep moving forward. Keep churning out scenes, even if you aren't 100% satisfied with the scenes you're leaving behind. Resist the internal editor and just keep typing.
So hey, if you're up for the challenge, let me know! First to 50K wins!
