Update on Book Review of Burned by Ellen Hopkins

First--- SPOILER WARNING!! Do NOT read this if you haven't read Burned yet. I don't want to be slapped because I spoiled the ending of the book! Proceed at your own risk! :)

So if you read my blog after last Friday afternoon and checked out the comment... FROM ELLEN HOPKINS! (I felt like a high school basketball player who got a call from Michael Jordan!)... Lemme give you the follow-up to what happened after that comment...

I did email her and ask about Pattyn's next move. She gave me permission to share her response, and I really want to, because it makes the pacing and ending make complete sense to me now.

The premise of the story was what it would take to drive a young woman to go on a shooting rampage. She'd have to lose everything that mattered to her. She was a girl who had nothing, found everything, and lost it all in one fell swoop.

So with that in mind, thinking back on the last 20 pages or so, it all makes sense. Things unraveled very quickly, completely turned upside down. But that's exactly what it would take to drive her to that edge. I get it now. :)

The story doesn't show the rampage, which is why this wasn't immediately apparent to me. But now that I am aware of the premise, it really does make sense to me.
